King Salmon Fishing on the Kenai & Kasilof Rivers
Fishing for King Salmon
on the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers could best be described as awesome.
These rivers provide the best of both worlds: Trophy King Salmon with
unusually productive fishing. We offer the finest in drift and power
boat charters on this majestic river. Whatever your preference we
can arrange it.
Kenai River
The Kenai River is famous for producing the
biggest King Salmon in the world. This river currently holds the
world record for King Salmon (97lbs 4oz) and every year produces fish over
80 lbs. If you are looking for world-class trophy salmon fishing
this is it. Having two runs of salmon, our season begins June 1 and usually ends July 31st. The first run begins the last two
weeks of May and winds down towards the end of June. The
fishing then is usually less crowded and can be very productive. On
average these fish are smaller than the second run with the average fish
weighing in at 35lbs with some 50 and 60 pounders being caught.
The second run King Salmon are what the trophy hunters are
after. This run takes place throughout the month of July. The
average weight of these goliaths is 45lbs. This is when the majority
of the true Alaskan monsters are caught.

Kasilof River
The Kasilof River is one of the most
underrated rivers for king salmon and we want it to stay that
way. In late May and early June this river is best described as
"smokin". During this time of year the fish
are confined and holding in a small stretch of water which allows for
phenomenal catches. The only detriment to these fish is that they
are smaller in size compared to the Kenai.
In July the
Kasilof River takes a complete transformation in water level. Along
with this change come the Kasilof's native run of King Salmon.
Pound
for pound these fish have to be
one of the hardest fighting strains
of King Salmon around. The average weight of these fish is 30lbs
with a few 50 pounders being caught every year.
One of the greatest advantages of fishing the Kasilof River is that
there are virtually no powerboats and there is less development.
This increases the chance for you to see local wildlife such as Eagles,
Beavers and Moose. For those wanting a more pristine trip with very
productive fishing this is it.
